Tonight I signed up for Facebook. It’s a big step for me, I’m not a very social person, it is very difficult for me to stay in touch with just about everybody if I’m not physically there, and I really hate what I feel “social networking” is doing to our world. I think we are losing a huge chunk of what makes us human by not having to interact with any actual people. But that is for another rant. So I tried to get on Facebook for Karena and mom. Mom is trying to get everyone from the family on there so we can all keep tabs on each other and such, sounds good right? Yeah, until I spend 2 hours looking for people and manage to find 1 person. If Facebook could talk, it would go something like this:
Me: Search for Karena Markham
FB: Did you mean Karen Markham? I found 89 of them.
Me: No, Karena, with an A. Oh forget it here is her email address.
FBk: Oh, you meant Karena Markham, yeah, I got her right here.
Me: Ok, add her as a friend.
FB: Are you sure?
Me: Yes I’m sure.
FB: You know she is going to have to approve it too, right?
Me: Ok.
FB: Ok, just enter these two security words for me.
Me: Sure here you go.
FB: Sorry, that’s not right.
Me: What? Yes it is, but here, the two new words.
FB: No, that isn’t right either. Oh, my bad, you’re good.
Me: Ok, now look for Pattie Arnold.
FB: Ok, we have 300 Patties.
Me: Ok, I’ll look through them and find my mom.
FB: Not past 81-90 you won’t.
Me: Why not?
FB: Because I said so.
Me: Huh?
So yeah, I spent 1 hour and 45 minutes looking for mom on Facebook, searching name, email, trying to search location but according to Facebook Longmont Colorado doesn’t exist. So 2 hours and 3 minutes after creating an account I deleted it.
